Cloudstreet is one of the representative works of contemporary Australian writer Tim Winton. It chronicles the lives of two ordinary Australian families over the period of twenty years after the end of World War Two. After many twists and turns, the novel concludes with the union of two families whose members identify love as the core of reconciliation. This article attempts to explore the theme of reconciliation from four aspects： the reconciliation within the family, the reconciliation between neighbors, the reconciliation between people of different races and the reconciliation between man and environment. The theme of reconciliation illustrates the author＇s humane ethics and his strong sense of social responsibility.
