才子佳人小说是诞生于明清易代背景下的一批小说。在这批小说中,易代之痛被忽视乃至漠视,取而代之的是浓重的遁世情结。这种遁世情结一方面由清初文化高压及小说文体地位所决定,另一方面,则是由作者的生活和创作态度决定的。才子佳人小说的作者多为中下层文人,他们对于易代缺乏传统文人高度的责任感,他们关注只是"小我",这种对"小我"的过分关心决定了小说只能成为小说作者弥补现实生活缺憾的一种心理补偿的载体。

The replacement of Ming dynasty by Qing dynasty is an much more important background of Talented Scholars and Lovely Ladies Romances,including Yuan-yang Pei,but the agony of the change of dynasty didn’t display in the novels.There were three reasons.The high pressure of the Qing dynasty caused the first reason.The type of novel caused the second one.And the attitude of novel’s authors caused the third one.Most authors of this genre were depressed,who were from the literati in middle and lower classes.They paid more attention to themselves instead of exercising intellectual’s duty.The attention to themselves is only a psychological compensation.
