贾宝玉的死亡意识与紫鹃的命名当下不少人已经在探讨,但似乎并没有触及问题的实质。贾宝玉三次"化烟说"其实暗含着一个神话原型"紫玉化烟",贾宝玉要求与紫鹃、林黛玉一起化烟,而紫鹃与林黛玉的名字正好组成"紫玉",这也是"紫玉化烟"的运用,而《红楼梦》的内容与"紫玉化烟"的意蕴相符。

Many scholars are exploring Jia Baoyu’s death consciousness and the naming of Zijuan,but they have not touched the essence of the problem.The theory that Jia Baoyu changed into smoke three times implies a mythic stereotype of ＂changing of Ziyu into smoke＂ where Jiao Baoyu wants to disappear into smoke together with Zijuan and Lin Daiyu.Taking one part from each of the names of Zijuan and Lin Daiyu makes the name of ＂Ziyu＂.This is exactly howthe use of ＂Ziyu’s melting into smoke＂ conforms to the implication of A Dream of Red Mansions.
