A Postmodern Perspective of War Fiction:On Tim O'Brien's War Fiction

摘要越南战争是美国后现代社会里的一个历史片章,对美国文学产生重大的影响。越战作家的代表人物梯姆.奥布莱恩准确把握了时代脉搏,用小说的叙事方式从后现代主义视角审视越南战争的后现代主义特征:不确定性、真实与虚构界限消弭、叙述文本和评论文本兼容、时空倒错等主要特征,找到越战文本和后现代主义之间的相似性。这些特征揭示出越战的混乱、非正义和不道德的本质。奥布莱恩因此受到作家、评论家和读者的高度赞誉,被认为是当今美国最优秀的越战小说家。 The Vietnam War is a historical part of postmodern American society, and it exerts an important influence on American literature. The representative writer of the Vietnam War litera- ture Tim O＇ Brien, by drawing on fictional narratives, effectively discerns the postmodern characteristics of the Vietnam War from the perspective of postmodernism ： indeterminacy, blurring of re- ality and fiction, combination of narrative texts and commentary texts, disorderly arrangement of time and space, and identifies the similarities between the novels of the Vietnam War and postmodernism. These postmodern characteristics lay bare the nature of the Vietnam War＇ s chaos, unjustness and immorality. Therefore O＇ Brien earns wide acclaims among writers, critics and readers and the title of the most famous writer of the Vietnam War in America today.
