韩礼德建构系统功能语法的目的之一是为语篇研究提供一个分析框架。从文献看,用系统功能语法进行语篇分析和文体分析的研究已不少,但把它应用于古诗英译方面的探讨还不多见。文章拟从韩礼德的人际纯理功能入手,分析曹雪芹所著《红楼梦》卷首诗的几种英译文,希望通过讨论来检验系统功能语言学在诗歌分析中的可操作性和可应用性。

although Halliday＇s systemic functional grammar has extensively been employed to the analysis of texts of different types in the literature to date,there are few studies on the translation of poems within Halliday＇s framework.This paper is a systemic functional attempt to study different translated texts of Cao Xueqin＇s opening poem of A Dream of Red Mansions,expecting that the present study will provide a good insight into the applicability of systemic functional linguistics in discourse analysis
