论我国英汉学习词典例证翻译之不足

On the Inadequacies of the Translation of Examples in China's English-Chinese Learners' Dictionaries

随着外语学习者数量的增加,双语学习词典的编译呈现出更加繁荣的景象,这使得例证的翻译研究不断深入。然而,纵观当前一些双语类的词典关于例证的翻译,不难发现还存在某些问题,如望文生义,死译和硬译,欠额翻译和过载翻译,英语习语、谚语的异化和归化,语体不当及"被"字泛滥等。这些都需要我们结合相关的翻译理论,针对具体问题提出修改建议。

In conformity with the trend of the compilation and translation of learners＇ dictionaries due to great increase in foreign language learners, this paper attempts a discussion of some problems in translation. These problems are interpretation without real understanding; mechanical translation and servile translation; under-translation and over-translation; alienation and domestication in the translation of English idioms and proverbs; unsuitable style and the overuse of passive voice. In the discussion, examples and translation theories are combined, and improper translations are pointed out and advice for correction is offered.
