Trade Between Fujian and Japan During the Late Ming and the Early Qing Dynasties

明末清初,政权更迭,国内的商品经济有一定的发展,人们对商业与贸易有了较深的认识,商人的社会地位明显提高。许多国家都有开展对华贸易的强烈愿望,中国的商品在国际市场上具有很强的竞争力,而此时日本对中国的商品需求很强烈,福建对日贸易飞速发展起来,在规模、人数、范围等方面都达到很高水平,商品种类方面更是丰富多彩,此时福建的对日贸易在整个亚洲地区也扮演着相当重要的角色。

The political power of the late Ming and the early Qing Dynasties alternated,which could not place restrietions on foreign trade. Because of the better and thorough understanding of business and foreign trade, merchants＇ social status had been definiately improved during this period. Products made in China attracted many consumers on the overseas markets so that many countries hacl a strong desire to carry out trade with China. It was no doubt that products from China were always in constant demand at that time. On the basis of the great development of trade between Fujian and Japan and the sufficient goods supplies, their co-operation played a quite dominant role in Asia.
