Through these three relationships between Xiangzi and his Rickshaw, and the city he earned his living, and Huniu, his wife, it is clearly showed the difficult position which peasants were confronted with, the effect that urban cultures have on rural cultures, and the choice people have to make between sexual passion and marriage. Enlightenments can be found in modern life from this novel.
