从关联理论角度审视译文中的幽默

Humor in Translation Seen from Relevance Theory

不同语言和文化之间存在着巨大差异,幽默话语所表现的语言文化特征尤其突出,因而幽默语的翻译有时不能达到预期效果。幽默语的翻译与关联理论提出的认知环境、语境和关联有着密切的联系。从关联理论的角度研究英语幽默语的汉译过程,可以寻求相关的英汉幽默翻译方法。

Due to language and cultural differences, English humor and Chinese humor display distinctive features, which cause frequent failure in producing desirable humorous effects in target language. Within the framework of Relevance Theory, the process of communication may be regarded as a cognitive activity of human beings, with much emphasis on cognitive environment, context and optimal relevance which are important for humor translation. This paper, aiming at investigating the process of English-Chinese translation of humor from the RT perspective, endeavor to adopt applicable methods to reconstruct humor in target language.
