在中国古代,天文星占对政治具有相当的影响力,历代统治者对天文星占给予了极大的重视,经常把它作为一种重要的统治手段在政治生活中运用。魏晋南北朝时期,天文星占不仅为改朝换代制造社会舆论,而且参议朝政、约束皇权,在君臣斗争中发挥着特殊作用。

Astronomy and astrology has considerable political influence in ancient China. Rulers often use it as an important governing skill in politics. During Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties, they are involved in astrological maneuvers of public opinion during dynastic changes, in daily affairs, offsetting imperial power, and it plays a special role in the struggle of Emperor Hanwu and his officials.
