Study on Environmental Politics in China: A Critical Review

作为对如何构建人类与维持其生存的生态环境基础间的适当关系的政治理论探索与实践应对,环境政治学已经或正在成为一门独立的政治学理论分支或学科。这在欧美西方国家尤其如此。中国的环境政治学研究始于20世纪80年代中后期,最初主要围绕着个别性议题领域,而且基本以翻译评介的方式为主。进入90年代中期后,同时受到1987年联合国环境与发展委员会报告以及1992年举行的世界环境与发展大会和国内生态环境问题日渐突出事实的促动,环境政治学无论在研究议题领域拓展、研究队伍扩大,还是在学术成果出版和重大学术活动方面,都进入了一个迅速发展的新时期。但客观地说,环境政治学作为一门环境人文社会学科在中国的进一步发展还面临着来自诸多方面的难题与挑战——中国依然快速推进中的经济现代化与城市化进程为环境政治学的发展设置了一个既充满机遇、又构成制约的总体背景,而同样重要的是,我们如何能够在上述背景下找到中国环境政治学学科成长的适当方法论切入点。

Environmental politics is turning into an independent sub - discipline of political science, especially in the Western countries, aiming at reconstructing an appropriate political relationship between human being and its ecological environment. In China, systemic study of environmental politics, which started in the mid - 1980s by focusing upon only certain environmental fields and issues, has recently progressed very remarkably. However, the further development of environmental politics as a new subject still faces lots of challenges from both the practical and theoretical backgrounds.
