Metaphor and English Vocabulary Learning

隐喻研究已成为语言研究中发展最为迅速和极具意义的领域之一。由于其普遍性和认知特性,隐喻被普遍应用于语言学习领域。更重要的是,隐喻成为语言学习者在第二语言习得过程中学习、记忆及掌握词汇的一个最佳途径。文章试图将隐喻理论与英语词汇学习结合起来,以证实隐喻可以使词汇学习更富有成效,并展示其对语言学习的指导功能和应用价值。

Research on metaphor has become of one of the fastest growing and significant fields of language study.Because of its pervasiveness and cognitive characteristics,metaphor is widely applied to the field of language study.What＇s more,it provides language learners with an excellent means to study,remember and master words in the process of second language acquisition.This paper attempts to combine the metaphor theory with vocabulary learning to demonstrate that it can make vocabulary study more effective and show its directional functions and application values in language study.
