Romanticism and Literary Periodization in the Western Context

要严肃探讨文学史和文学理论中分期问题,必然面对文学与历史的纠结,因为我们考虑文学和历史的历史时刻,在多样的理论和意识形态中往往彼此视为对手。将历史绘制为不同时期所运用的各种标准是在构成人们自己的"时期"语境中先前思维承担的结果。历史的分期持续怀有浪漫主义意识形态的印记。从浪漫主义思潮角度重新思考分期化问题可以说明多样性是历史时期过渡的界定性特征。

A serious discussion of the literary history and literary theoretical periodization is of necessity to confront the entanglement between literature and history, for in the historical moment of our thinking literature and history the two are usually viewed as antagonists in a variety of the- ories and ideologies. The various criteria for mapping history into periods is the result of prior intellectual commitments in the context of what constitutes one＇s own ＂period＂. The periodization of history continues to bear the ideological stamp of Romanticism. A rethinking of the periodization issues from the perspective of Romanticism can illustrate the view that the multiplicity is the defining characteristic of historical transitions.
