The Methodological Foundation of Experiments in Economics:Beyond "Innocuous Falsificationism"

摘要实验研究已成为现代经济学研究的一种常规手段。在其历史上,面对来自各种角度的怀疑,实验经济学的先驱们往往是从实用主义的角度对其合法性进行辩护。本文从经济学的哲学传统中探寻实验方法为经济学所接受的必然性,认为实验方法承继了逻辑实证主义与经验实证主义两种传统,在寻找真实的假设的同时检验着理论的预测。特别地,实验克服了计量方法引入所留下的"无关痛痒"的证伪主义的缺陷,使得经济学理论与实验之间的真正互动成为可能,从而在实验过程中找到了研究的合法性。不过,与自然科学不同,社会科学中的实验研究最终必须回到文化价值与意义上来,从我们对人类行为的某种事先的"猜测"和把握中寻找其前进之源。 Laboratory experiment has become a routine method in modern economic researches.Since its first birth,experimental economics has suffered various suspicions.The pioneers of experimental economics often defend the legitimacy of experiment from a pragmatic point of view.In this paper,we argue that laboratory experiment follows both the traditions of logical positivism and empirical positivism in economics.In particular,the introduction of laboratory experiment overcomes the certain critique of econometric analysis as 'innocuous falsificationism' from methodologists,enables the interaction between economic theories and experiments,which help experiment economics find its legality in the process of research.However,different from research in natural sciences,experimental research in social science should ultimately be guided by cultural value and significance.
