当代英国文坛巨匠多丽丝.莱辛的杰作《金色笔记》采用了元小说的表现手法,且其中自反性是该小说典型的元小说特征。安娜既是小说作者,同时又是小说中的人物,她通过揭示自己创作的小说主人公爱拉的虚构性,通过反思语言在建构文本世界和外在现实中所表现出的矛盾,通过裸露小说的创作过程,摧毁了现实的虚伪性,从而跨越了虚构与非虚构、艺术与生活、小说与文学批评的界限,把读者的注意力引向了小说的创作过程。
