“监考”一词英译探析

On English Translation of"Jiankao(监考)"

监考一词在现有的汉英词典中的译法一般为invigilate,proctor和proctor,似有欠妥之处,笔者借助手头现有的参考资料和从网上获取的信息,对现有的译法进行了补充。同时还尝试提出了一些新译法,如supervise anexam[test];oversee an exam[test],供翻译研究者和爱好者参考。

＂Jiankao（监考）＂ is usually translated into invigilate,proctor and proctor.There is still space for improvement.The author,making use of the references at hand and information retrieved from the internet,supplements the present translations.Besides,the author attempts to put forth some new translations,such as supervise an exam[test],oversee an exam[test],etc.,which are intended for references for those translation researchers and those interested in translation.
