Recently a significant design for establishing a system of geographical science was put forward by Mr. Qian Xuesen, chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, and nationwide geographers are having an animated disscussion on the subject. This article can be regarded as a written speech, in which the writer expresses his enthusiastic response to Mr. Qian's appeal. Meanwhile, according to what he has gained from studying contemporary geography, he tries to explain and extend in some degree to the connotations of geographical science. Finally, in the conclusion, it is confirmed that the establishment of the Geographical Science System will surely play an important role in the new development of contemporary geography.
