On Building up a Harmonious Ethnic Relation in Xinjiang under the Guidance of the Outlook of Scientific Development

和谐民族关系对于新疆来说至关重要,它既是社会和谐的必要条件,又是实现社会和谐的基础和前提。民族关系和谐与否,不仅关系到和谐社会的构建,而且关系到国家的稳定和中华民族的伟大复兴,也关系到边疆民族地区社会和谐和繁荣富强。在新疆贯彻和落实科学发展观构建和谐民族关系,对于巩固边防,促进边疆民族地区的长治久安,维护平等、团结、互助和谐的社会主义新型民族关系,具有十分重要的现实意义和深远的历史意义。

A harmonious ethnic relation is vital to Xinjiang. It is not only the necessary condition for social harmony but also the foundation and prerequisite for realizing social harmony. It concerns not only the building up of a harmonious society, national stability and rejuvenization of the Chinese people, but also social harmony and properity of ethnic regions in the border areas. In Xinjiang, the ways to implement the Outlook of Scientific Development and to build up a harmonious ethnic relation plays a very significant role in promoting the everlasting peace in ethnic regions and safegurding a new-type socialist ethnic relation characterized by equality, solidarity, mutual help and harmony.
