Eric Olin Wright distinguished between negative and positive class compromises, and the latter means a form of mutual cooperation between opposing classes. Wright believed that the growth of the associated power of the working classes can benefit the material interests of capitalists. The positive class compromise is beneficial to both the working classes and the capitalist class at the present time.
