Same Flower from Different Trees:A Comparative Study of Ying Zi and Ying Ning

汪曾祺《受戒》中的英子,宛如《聊斋志异·婴宁》中的婴宁。英子与婴宁都成长于理想的世外桃源,一样的青春年华,一样的天真烂漫,面对意中人都采取了积极主动的态度。汪曾祺和蒲松龄,在两个人物身上寄托了共同的人生理想。两个艺术形象的不同之处在于:婴宁是悲剧人物,反映了封建礼教对美好人性的扼杀,而英子是喜剧形象,体现了作者对人性本真的乐观态度。

The character Ying Zi in Being Initiated into Monkshood by Wang Zengqi is similar to Ying Ning in Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio by Pu Songling Being young and innocent,both of them are growing up in an ideal world of heavenly peace and happiness,and they both take a positive attitude toward love when meeting their beloved men.The authors,Wang and Pu,place the same life ideal on these two characters.However,the difference revealed by the two images is that Ying Ning is a tragic character,which reflects the destruction of beautiful human nature by the feudal ethics.On the other hand,Ying Zi is a comic image,which manifests the author＇s positive attitude toward the true nature of human beings.
