摘要
Reading English newspapers and magazines is an effective way to help the students get the latest information worldwide and improve English levels. The present article first analyzes the features of the English newspapers and magazines and then proposes making good use of them through such classroom activities as discussing the hot issue and role-playing to provide more authentic situations in which the students can have chances to practice four English skills, achieving the ideal teaching result.
英美报刊阅读是大学生获取最新国际信息、了解异国文化，并通过接触地道实用的现代英语提高英语水平的有效途径。英美报刊文章的特点决定了它对大学英语教学是非常必要的补充。在大学英语教学中通过组织讨论热点新闻、进行角色模拟等课堂交际活动，将英美报刊文章合理利用，为大学生提供更多真实的听、说、读等综合运用英语的语境，最终达到帮助学生提高语言综合运用能力的教学目的，与课本学习相辅相成，相得益彰。
