To evaluate the role of angiotension convertingenzyme (ACE ) gene polyrnorphism in the progression of renal diseases. Method ACE gene polymorphism was analyzed in 50 patients with end stagerenal failure (ESRF) and 60 normal control. Result The frequences of DD and DI genotype were significantly higher in ESRF patients thannormal control (DD: 15. 1 % VS6. 7 %,P<0. 01, DI: 54. 0%, VS 39. 7 %, P<0.05 ), whilethe frequency of II genotype was much lower in ESRF compared withnormal controls (30. 9% VS53. 6%, P<0. 01 ). Conclusion The DD and Dlgenotype of ACE gene are associated with the development of renalfailure and may be a risk marker for progression of renal diseases.
