Experience and Aesthetic Realm of Happiness——A Significant Issue in Zhu Xi’s Philosophy

乐是儒家哲学所提倡的最高的人生体验,也是理学家和朱子所追求的理想境界。乐具有审美体验的形式,实则以真善美合一为人生的最大乐趣。在朱子哲学中,乐的体验有人格美、人与自然和谐之美和艺术美的美学意义。而追求艺术人生、诗性化的人生,达到真善美合一的境界,是中国哲学包括朱子哲学的一个重要特征。

Happiness was the highest experience of human life advocated by Confucianism and the ideal realm pursued by Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism. A form of aesthetic experience, happiness actually suggests that the unity between the true, the good and the beautiful is the greatest happiness of human life. Thus experience of happiness in Zhu’s philosophy contains the beauty of aesthetic personality, the beauty of harmony between nature and men and the artistic beauty. Pursuit of an artistic and poetic life to attain the realm of the true, the good and the beautiful is significantly characteristic of Chinese philosophy, including Zhu’s philosophy.
