曾国藩、左宗棠关系中的性格影响因素论析

An Analysis on Personality Factors in the Relationship between Zeng Guofan and Zuo Zongtang

同作为晚清湘系集团要员的曾国藩、左宗棠,虽说在关乎派系大局的事情上不乏同心协力之时,但亦多有个人嫌怨,甚至不止一度地明显"交恶"。这与两人的性格因素密切关联,曾国藩内里强毅而又外表谦谨,左宗棠生性率直而又不掩狂傲,尽管在特定情况下,能通过双方的克制、容让而在一定程度上化解矛盾,但总不免要对其关系产生直接的负面影响。

As the chief officials in Xiang Group in late Qing Dynasty, both Zeng Guofan and Zuo Zongtang made concerted efforts to stick up for the overall situation, but they showed a personal grudge and resentment at the same time, and even more they made vicious attacks against each other, which was partly due to their different personality factors. Zeng Guofan always appeared modest and prudent but in fact ruled with an iron fist in a velvet glove, but Zuo Zongtang was frank and straightforward by nature and never attempted to palliate his presumption. Their different personality factors brought directly negative influence on their relationship, though they conciliate conflict to a certain extent with restraint and tolerance in some certain circumstances.
