Gu Xidong is a contemporary leading figure in the creation of Zhejiang Shaoxing Opera. With his concern of modern vision and his expression of history, he combines reality with impression in his dramatic works, and identifies philosophic theory with the beauty of poetry. His works, which have reached the new height of the creation of Shaoxing Opera, have legendary plots and concise composition.
