The Grass Is Singing unfolds the readers a vivid picture of colony,and successfully portrays a hardworking,brave and kind character —Moses.Certainly,Lessing＇s vivid portray of such an ordinary slave is purposeful —as the most pitiable and respectable personage,Moses plays a significant textual metaphor function in this novel.
