It is commonly agreed that language fossilization,especially the fossilization of English vocabulary,occurs to most foreign or second language learners.As the basis of English writing,the fossilization of vocabulary competence is a great barrier for the improvement of writing ability.The fossilization of English vocabulary has both internal and external reasons.In order to avoid this phenomenon,the quality of the imported vocabulary should be improved,chances should be created for the vocabulary to be exported and the importation of language should be combined with culture.
