书评中的“I”:角色责任的标记

"I" in Book Reviews:A Marker for Role Responsibility

语篇中的角色责任是指交际者因在语篇中的角色而被赋予的责任,角色责任研究可以有效克服权力研究的消极性。在语篇中,"I"是角色责任的标记,含有"I"的小句(简称"I"小句)的语态、语气、主位、及物性过程、情态和时态等特点体现了角色责任的态度、类型、范围、内容和程度等。以20篇英语语言学书评为语料,其中"I"小句的词汇语法特点表明,书评作者愿意主动承担描述自己和书评(包括作者对书的评价、对书评的组织,等等)的角色责任,并且在评价书的时候有意减弱自己角色责任的程度。

Role responsibility in a text is the responsibility attached to an interactant for the role he or she plays in the text.The study of role responsibility can effectively reduce the negativity in the study of power.In a text,'I' is a marker of role responsibility.The voice,mood,Theme,process types,modality and tense of clauses with 'I' realize respectively the attitude,type,scope,content and degree of role responsibility.Using a corpus of 20 English book reviews on linguistics,this article analyses the lexico-grammatical features of 'I'-clauses in the corpus.The results show that writers of book reviews take the initiative in bearing his role responsibility to describe the writer and the book reviews (including writers’ criticism on books,their organization of book reviews,and so on).Besides,while commenting on the book,writers try to reduce the degree of his role responsibility.
