"通事"是替不通汉语的外国人和中国人翻译语言的,在中外贸易中扮演着中间人的角色。"通词"则是以翻译荷兰文和日文为职业。日本通词的社会地位明显要高于中国通事,并且中国通事所具备的西文水平是根本不能和日本通词集团相比的。
Assistant translator is a kind of interpreter between foreigners and Chinese.They play the role of middleman in Chinese and foreign trade.Tsuji＇s occupation is to translate Dutch and Japanese.The social status of Japanese Tsuji is higher than Chinese assistant translator,and on the technique,the translator and the Tsuji exert distinct function in introducing western culture.
