摘要
《世说新语》的记事下限为晋安帝义熙三年(公元407年),距离该书编撰尚有32年时间。《世说新语》缘何不录时事,笔者以为,原因有三:首先,义熙三年,政归刘裕,东晋名存实亡,世族黄金时代结束;其次,屠杀名士,抹杀了刘裕的诗性光芒;最后,避免重蹈《语林》覆辙。
The latest time of happening in the New Saying of the Day was the third year of YiXi,an emperorer in Jin Dynasty,which was thirtytwo years far to compile the book.Three reasons of not recording this latest happening are as followings： nominal existence of DongJin Dynasty,killing the briliance of LiuYu and avoiding the tragedy of YuLin.
