On the Function of Non-verbal Communication in the Cross-cultural Communication

当今社会,世界各国之间的跨文化交际越来越广泛和深入。在这样的跨文化交际中,非语言交际起着巨大的作用。非语言交际是整个交际中不可缺少的组成部分,而且在不同的文化背景下非语言交际的行为是各不相同的,因此造成许多文化冲突。跨文化交际成败的关键在于正确对待文化差异,不断提高对不同文化背景下非语言交际行为的理解,从而达到相互尊敬、平等交往。

Today cross-cultural communication has become more and more frequent and extensive, in which non-verbal comminication plays a very important role. It is an inseparable part in the whole communication process. Different culture has different demonstrations of non-verbal communication, which leads to many cultural conflicts. The key to the success of cross-cultural communication is to treat cultural difference appropriately and improve our understanding of non-verbal behaviour in different cultural background, in order for the people of different cultures to respect each other and communicate on an equal footing.
