车辆发动机的缸套普遍采用灰铸铁。但灰铸铁的金相组织、耐磨性、耐腐蚀性较差,而蠕墨铸铁除了具有灰铸铁机械性能外还具有良好强度、疲劳强度等,用蠕墨铸铁代替灰铸铁作发动机的汽缸材料在机械性能、寿命、重量等诸多方面有较大优势。
