Parody,a major means of post-modern literary creation, aims at challenging, subverting and satirizing the established human history and ideology through the comical and variant forms of imitation. John Hawkes's historiographic metafiction The Owl,based on the allegories of the Bible and imagination, imitates history with an ironical distance, constructing an intertextuality between the literary world and the real world and providing an opportunity for the reader to recollect, question and reinspect the human history and culture.
