An Overview on the First Session of "Social History of Modern Chinese Transportation" Symposium

2009年11月16～18日,"第一届中国近代交通社会史学术研讨会"在天津举行。与会学者就近代交通体系的形成及其政策、近代交通体系的功能、近代交通体系与区域变动、近代交通体系与城市化进程、近代交通体系与航运变迁、国际视野下的近代交通体系等问题展开热烈研讨,对近年来中国近代交通社会史研究的薄弱领域和若干前沿问题进行了反思与展望,并呼吁大力开展中国近代交通社会史的研究。

The first session of ＂Social History of Modern Chinese Transportation＂ Symposium was held in Tianjin on November 16-18,2009. The participants carried out heated academic discussions on the topics concerning the embryonic formation of modern Chinese transport system and its policy, functions of modern transport system, modern transport system and regional changes, modern transport system and the process of urbanization, modern transport system and shipping changes, global vision of modern transport system, etc. They reviewed certain weak links, looked into the future of some advanced issues and also vigorously emphasized the importance of deepening researches in this field.
