In Chinese literature, Mr. Lu Xun's stories are characteristic and unique. As a famous translator and chief writer in the New Culture Movement , his stories combined the similarity and conflict of Chinese and Western ethics culture. The impact of Chinese and Western ethics on Lu Xun's writing should not be neglected. On one hand, he tried to shake off the old feudalism ethic bonds through the new western ethics; on the other hand, he was deeply influenced by Chinese traditional ethics. The conflicts often appeared in Lu Xun's stories. As a translator, different ethic views may result in the loss of original information and the reader~ misunderstanding. Based on the analysis of two different English versions of the "Diary of a Madman and Other Stories", this paper attempts to probe into different ethic views reflected in the translations and revealed different translation strategies from two ethic perspectives : conjunction and conflict of Chinese and western ethics.
