Abstract China has been developing very rapidly in economy for the past 20 years. But will she do so in the future? Since the second half of the year 1996 when the Southeast Asian financial disturbance began, the international economy has undergone great changes. How are these changes to impact upon Chinas future economic growth? This kind of questions have arrested popular attention both at home and abroad. In order to further study and discuss the problem of Chinas future economic development, the BEIJING NATIONAL ECONOMY INSTITUTION and the MANAGEMENT WORLD Office jointly organized in Beijing in December,1998,a seminar of THE SUSTAINABILITY OF CHINAS ECONOMIC GROWTH. Each expert who participated in it aired his or her own views on such questions as Chinas economic trend in the near future period, the macroeconomic policy selection to maintain Chinas economic boost, the economic growth in China and the world in the trans-centurial years, in the hope of making some explorations beneficial to the realization of Chinas sustainable economic advancement.
