This paper expounds the importance and significance of strengthening the construction of characteristic literature of local university library, and points out that in the construction of local characteristic literature database, the collection, arrangement and identification of data sources should be emphasized, the describing and indexing should be done in normal, standard and scientific way, and university library should provide the realistic guarantee for local characteristic database from aspects of personnel, technology and equipment.
