Summary of the "Centennial Birthday Commemoration Symposium for Mr.Xia Nai"

The year 2010 is the 100th birthday year of Dr. Xia Nai,the most famous archaeologist of China. The "Centennial Birthday Commemoration Symposium for Mr. Xia Nai" sponsored by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and hosted by the Institute of Archaeology,CASS was held in Beijing on February 9th,2010. About 100 people in total,including the leaders of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences,National Administration of Cultural Heritage and Institute of Archaeology,CASS,the scholars of archaeology discipline,Dr. Xia Nai’s descendants and relatives,attended the symposium. The participants recalled Dr. Xia Nai’s life,his historical merits,academic achievements and lofty character,and agreed that Dr. Xia’s steady,meticulous,practical and realistic attitudes to academic researches are invaluable property of archaeology discipline of China. After the symposium,the participants visited "Xia Nai Library" and memorial exhibition for Dr. Xia.
