Migration of Tang's Family Clan into Fujian and Their Ensuing Propagation In Taiwan Straits Areas

汤氏起源于中原,唐时郡望为河北之中山、范阳,但此后便不断南迁。目前,全国汤氏第一大省为福建,占全国汤氏总人口的15%。唐代是汤氏入闽的高峰期,除唐初随陈政、陈元光父子入闽的汤智公、汤简公兄弟外,唐宪宗年间有太师汤泽率其子孙移居闽浙两地。正是汤氏族人代代南迁繁衍,才形成今日福建成为汤氏之第一大省。明清时期,汤氏族人也是随同浩浩荡荡的垦殖大军渡台开发台湾的,其中既有闽南人,也有客家人。大体与迁台同时,汤氏族人从清代起就有拓展海外的记载,其中应以闽南汤氏族人为多。这些迁居海外的汤氏族人活跃在当地的各行各业,为当地社会经济的发展作出了积极的贡献。

Tang's family clan originated in the central plains of China,once a powerful clan in Hebei,and then started a continued migration southwards.At present,Fujian has the largest population with the family name of Tang,which accounts for 15% of the total population of Tang's family clan in China.The peak wave of Tang's family clan migration into Fujian took place in Tang Dynasty and the following major waves of immigration were during the Ming and Qing Dynasties for southern reclamation,many of them moved across the straits to Taiwan,among them there are both southern Fujianese and Hakka people.Their records of overseas expansion appeared at about the same period of their immigration to Taiwan and their overseas commercial activities contributed a lot to the local economic development.
