A contextual perspective of Adaptation Theory put forward by Verschueren points out that the interpretation of language should take language context and communicative context into account. This contextual perspective emphasizes on describing and analyzing the usage of lan- guage eognitively, socially and culturally. So, it＇ s more powerful for interpreting Verbal Humor.
