从译者的比喻看翻译方法

Translation methods displayed in Metaphors of Translators

翻译活动自古存在,它在发展跨文化交流中起到了关键性的作用。关于对译者扮演的角色以及在翻译中的地位,中外都有过不少形象的比喻:演说家、画家、雕刻家、演员、中介人、媒婆、舌人、叛逆者、仆人等等。文章主要从演说家、画家、"美而不忠"的女人、仆人这四种比喻来分析本体和喻体之间的相似性,进一步分析人们对译者在翻译活动中所扮演角色的不同认识,并说明这些喻体背后所蕴含的翻译思想和方法。

As an activity, translation has been existing since the ancient times, and playing a key role in developing cross-cultural communication. There are orator, painter, soulptor, actor, matchmaker, rebel, servant, and so on. This paper mainly analyzes the similarities between these metaphors and translators through four typical metaphors： orator, painter, beautiful but unfaithful woman, servant, and the different views on the roles of translator in translation activities meanwhile, the paper tries to explore the translation methods embodied in these metaphors through four typical ones.
