The numbmer of mobile telephone sets in China ranks third in the world and its growth rate in some cities has approached or exceeded that of the fixed phone. The self - developed GSM products have become competitive with the foreign brands due to its breaking - through development, especially in the handsets market. Furthermore, the choice of the mobile communications standards is at a critical moment, which may influence the choice of the 3G mobile communications technology.
