大学生英语作文语料库中语篇连接词AND的语义研究

Semantic Study of Conjunction And in Undergraduates' Writing Corpus

本文为实证性研究,采用定量与定性相结合的方法,利用非英语专业大学生英语作文语料库,对位于句首的语篇逻辑连接词And的语义关系进行分类研究,并通过实例加以说明。此外,还比较了中国大学生与以英语为母语的人使用And不同语义关系的频率。研究发现,中国大学生与以英语为母语的人使用And的语义关系有显著差异。中国大学生表现出过度使用表示增补和层进的语义关系,过少使用表示列举、总结和转折的语义关系,以及语义功能不清楚的问题。

This paper studies the logical semantic relations of the sentence-initial conjunction And.The empirical study,based on the data taken from a corpus consisting of the English compositions written by non-English major undergraduates,compares the frequencies of semantic relations in this corpus with those in a native-speakers＇ corpus.The major findings are：Chinese undergraduates and native speakers differ much in the logical semantic distribution of conjunction And,and Chinese undergraduates display a tendency to overuse the additional statement and progressive relations but underuse the listing,summary and opposite relations.The data analyses also indicate that Chinese learners have vague idea of the functions of semantic relations.
