On Functionalism in Chinese—English translation of Color Words

功能翻译理论对汉英颜色词翻译具有重要的实践指导意义。"目的法则"可以使译者摆脱传统"对等"的束缚,积极发挥译者能动性;"连贯性法则"可以指导译者在充分理解原文颜色词的文化内涵基础之上,根据译语读者文化,采取直译、转译或意译等不同的翻译策略,增加译文的表达效果和可读性;而"忠实性法则"则强调了不同的翻译策略都是由译文目的和译者对原文的理解决定的,译文必须尽可能达到传达原文内涵的预期目的。

Functionalism has a great guiding significance in Chinese-English translation of color words.According to Skopos Rule,translators can get rid of the traditional shackles of Equivalence,and paly a dynamic role in translation.According to Coherence Rule,translators can take different translation strategies such as literal translation,translation or paraphrase to increase the readability of the target text in terms of the target language readers＇culture,based on the fully understanding of the cultural connotation of the original color words.And Fidelity Rule emphasizes that different translation strategies are decided by the translation purposes and the translators＇understanding of the original color words.The target text must convey the desired objectives of the original as much as possible.
