The thesis takes the Dianchi building in Shanghai for example to reveal the existing problems and evaluate its value,and to explore the solutions to the conservation and reuse of the building. It attempts to reflect the common problem with the typical example of this building,and seek the sensible strategy of surviving and regeneration in contemporary city life for a great quantity of the non-culturalrelic historical buildings.
