Albert Schweitzer was a brilliant scholar who wrote many great books on western culture and ethics in the 20th Century. In order to realize his ideal of reviving western culture, he systematically investigated Chinese ideology, especially Chi- nese ethics. He researched on the history of influence of Chinese ideology upon Europe and sang high praises of Chinese ethics. Besides, he cherished a great expectation that Chinese culture would be revived, too. Therefore, this profound study of Schweitz- er＇ s notion that Chinese ideology is of much significance to the whole world shall contribute to enhancing our sense of pride in and our awareness of Chinese culture, especially at the critical time of the beginning period of the 21th century when Chinese cul- ture starts to show the dawn of its rejuvenation.
