Deeply Cherish the Memory of Mr. Yu Senwen,the Founder of Modern Hangzhou Landscape Architecture

余森文先生作为一位革命者,有着传奇的经历。他早年从一个执行孙中山先生三大政策的爱国进步的国民党人,逐渐成为忠贞的共产党员,为民族解放事业和民主革命作出了特殊贡献。新中国成立后,作为领导者和学术前辈,他为杭州和西湖风景园林事业的发展起到了关键性的重要作用,是现代杭州风景园林的开拓者和奠基人;他勇于创新,堪称我国风景园林事业的勇敢探索者;他的造园思想,足可让后人仰慕、品赏。

Mr. Yu Senwen,as a revolutionary,had a legendary experience. In the early years he was a patriotic and progressive member of the KMT party who followed Sun Yat-sen＇s three policies,and later he gradually became a loyal Communist Party member and made a special contribution to the national liberation and democratic revolution. After the liberation,as a leader and academic predecessor,he played a key and important role in the development of landscape architecture of Hangzhou and the West Lake,and he was the pioneer and founder of modern Hangzhou landscape architecture. With his innovative spirit,he could be regarded as the brave explorer of the landscape architecture cause of China,and his gardening thoughts deserve the later generations＇ admiration and appreciation.
