The 2008 global financial crisis made the shipping industry suffer huge loss. Many international shipping enterprises got into difficult position. However, COSCO (H. K.) Shipping Co., Limited has produced an excellent answer: in 2008, the company's business performance hit another high record following the year 2007; in 2009, the company created a good benefit in the miserable shipping market environment, making overall profit contribution for the COSCO Group in 2009. At the same time, the company turned the crisis into an opportunity for timely adjustments to optimize asset structure. Therefore, the company's net assets went upwards instead of downwards, the debt ratio dropped below 20%, asset quality kept on improving. All of the achievements have laid a solid foundation for the post-crisis period sustainable development.
