Along with the rise of commodity economy, personalized writing--a new kind of narration, has become a marked phenomenon in contemporary Chinese literature since the 1990s. By lashing at the then literary order and the mediocre writing, personal writing expressed its literary ideal and pure notion of creation: i.e. being resistant to the universal discourse practice and isolated from ideologicalized topics and common motifs of the epoch, with much importance attached to individual feeling and imagination as well as to personalized writing marked by individualization, subjectivity, intrinsic attributes and peronal monologue. Through its creation practice, "personal writing" tries to penetrate the hard cover of "common people" by presenting an objective picture of daily life, thus expressing a philosophical inquiry into human existence concealed by experience. However, under the imapct of the increasingly distinctive consumption culture, "personal writing" advertising "self-loyalty" has presented to readers an inevitable desire-dominated scene.
