Applying Functionalist Translation Theory to Tourism Translation——A Case Study of English Translation Materials for Dali Tourism

功能翻译论在翻译实践中可发挥着有益的作用,对非文学翻译、尤其是旅游翻译大有裨益。为了验证这一点,从山水风光、宗教文化、民俗文化、建筑文化和饮食文化这五个方面入手,对大理旅游文化英译资料进行比较与分析。一方面为功能翻译论提供一个角度的证据,另一方面则为大理旅游文化资料的英译提供一些建设性的建议。

Functionalist translation theory has played a useful role in translation practice,especially in such non-literary translation as tourism translation.In order to test this idea,we compared and analyzed the English translations of tourism materials about Dali from five perspectives： mountain scenery,religious culture,folk culture,architectural culture,and food culture.Therefore,on the one hand,the study provides evidence for functionalist translation theory;on the other hand,some constructive suggestions are offered about the English translation of Dali tourism materials.
